There is a long list of what to do and what not to do on social media. In this article, it is my goal to relay 3 do’ s and don’ts of social media marketing.

Let’s start out with the don’ts of social media marketing:

Don’ts

  1. Don’t ask for the sale

I see this mistake all too often from businesses and brands. Whenever they post, it is some sort of call to action. Like “click here to buy!”, “buy now!” things like that.

This is one of the worst things you can do if you’re trying to attract consumers to your product/service. This method of posting will leave you in a position where you don’t want to be, which is “why are we not seeing results on social media?” The answer to this question? They’re too busy asking for the sale all of the time!

2. Don’t do follow for a follow

The “follow for a follow” tactic is a very popular tactic nowadays. You might be surprised to know that it doesn’t work, like, at all.

This is most popular on Instagram. You can scroll through the comments of people’s posts and you will see this everywhere: “Follow me and I’ll follow back.” If you’re one of these people, please stop doing it.
