There’s so much I don’t know.
This became even more apparent once I became a real estate agent. Real estate is one of those industries where there is always something new to learn.
Every deal brings a new challenge, something you haven’t seen before, or a massive industry change. And most of the time, you’re running around with your hair on fire during the transaction.
It’s overwhelming at times.
I will say this though, even though I’m newer in the industry, I have a leg up on many people because of my dad and the brokerage I’m at.
I am very grateful to have my dad by my side. He’s been in the business for almost 40 years. Whenever I need help or have a question, he’s there to teach me. I’m always learning something new from him.
As for my brokerage, they provide the best training I could ask for. It’s the best brokerage I could’ve chosen as an agent entering the industry. I’ve learned so much in my almost 2 years there.
I don’t know
The other day, I had an appointment with a prospect. Towards the end of the appointment, I got very real with this individual and said if I didn’t know the answer to something, I wouldn’t pretend to know the answer.
I said I would get the answer from someone who may know it.
This person was appreciative of the fact that I said this. I could tell by looking at them that a weight had been lifted off their shoulder.
Many people think Realtors are just out to get them. They assume the only thing we care about is getting a commission check and will pressure them to buy a home.
That’s not how most Realtors conduct their business.
This person might’ve thought that in the back of their head for all I know. And to see a weight lifted off their shoulder gave me relief as well.
Making an effort to learn
With all of this said, I am making more of an effort to learn the things I don’t know or have little knowledge of.
There is limitless knowledge out in the world. It’s my job to go out there, find it…
